Births

In 2024, 84.3 thousand live births were registered in the Czech Republic, the fewest in statistical history. For the third year in a row, both the number of births and the fertility rate had significantly decreased. The total fertility rate fell to 1.37 children per woman in 2024; the lowest total fertility rate of 1.13 still belongs to 1999. The average age of mothers at birth of the first child further increased to 29.0 years in 2024.
